He was forced to rely on his cousin and the records of Richard Pryor for information about “everything terrible: porn, violence, and guns,” and he liked what he heard, even if he did not understand it entirely. As a kid, he talked about being sheltered and unbearably insular. He told the only joke he knew, and thus his career in comedy began. When he was just a teenager he ran away from home, hitched a ride with a trucker to Florida, lived in a park, devoured books in his local library, befriended some carnies, and finally snuck into a comedy club one night through the performers’ entrance because he was underage and could not get in through the main door. He was even offered a scholarship to a prestigious science academy, but turned it down. Reading by the age of three, he was a smart kid with real potential. His real name is Micah Williams, and he was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and he started his professional career before he could even get into the clubs. Katt Williams said, “I have eight children, seven adopted. When my son Micah was born, it changed my life. Every week when I’m able to clothe and feed my family, pay my staff, and travel around the world solely on the strength of comedy, that is my greatest accomplishment.” As a single parent to eight children, Williams often discusses parenthood in his comedy, and thus provides his audiences with both serious and comedic insight into the world of parenting. What sets Williams apart from other comedians is not only his outlandish style, but also his duality of character. However, these outstanding qualities all belong to the one and only, king of the house and of comedy, Micah “Katt” Williams. You can’t raise your kid in jail – Micah WilliamsĪ family man, a child prodigy, a multi-talented entertainer, and a modern day pimp may sound like four completely separate individuals.
